Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) Pricing Explained: Which Plan to Choose?

You want to get started with email marketing, and you’ve heard good things about Brevo (formerly Sendinblue). But what does the Brevo platform have to offer? How much does it cost? Is it really worth it? This guide to Brevo pricing will answer all of these questions and more!

We’ll explore:

Brevo Pricing.

ℹ️ Please note that we’ll be discussing US pricing in this article, but Brevo also offers pricing plans in a variety of currencies. Paying for the service in your own currency can make things easier when the time to pay your taxes comes.

An introduction to Brevo 👋

Sendinblue (brevo)

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) is primarily an email marketing service, offering several advanced features like custom automated workflows, workflow templates, advanced segmentation options, and A/B testing. The program also uses a visual email designer with content blocks, making it possible to create dynamic emails with a few quick clicks, doubly so for users already working with WordPress.

Brevo offers more than email marketing services, though. The platform offers robust customer relationship management (CRM) tools and, on the higher-paid plans, other tools, like Facebook advertising. You can even attach SMS (text message) marketing plans to your email marketing plan.

Brevo is also known for reasonable pricing, including a generous free plan that lets you access most of the platform’s email marketing features. We’ll take a closer look at that, including how it compares to other email marketing tools, in the rest of this article.

Brevo pricing plans 💳

Free

⚙️ Notable features

  • Unlimited contacts
  • Up to 300 emails per day
  • Automated workflow builder + templates
  • Advanced segmentation
  • CRM tools

💵 Cost

This plan is 100% free and includes the ability to manage unlimited contacts. However, there are some notable limitations:

  • Sending limit of 300 emails per day. Note that each email delivered to somebody’s inbox counts as an email sent. This means if you send one campaign to 300 users, it will be counted as your full 300 emails for the day. If you have 600 subscribers, you’ll need to send your campaign out over two days. Brevo will stagger emails across a 1,200-person list automatically, but this significantly reduces your ability to run time-sensitive promotions.
  • Marketing automation limit of 2,000 users. You can only target up to 2,000 users with any given marketing automation.
  • Lack of A/B testing. There are other Brevo features that are limited to the premium plans, but this one is the most notable, since A/B testing is an incredibly effective way to improve your email marketing campaigns over time.

Users on the free plan are also limited to email support.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

The Brevo free plan is ideal for small businesses that want access to advanced tools for growing their email list.

Lite

⚙️ Notable features

The Lite plan includes everything in the free plan, plus:

  • No daily sending limit
  • Ability to get the Lite+ add-on for access to A/B testing, the ability to remove the Brevo logo from signup forms and emails, and advanced analytics

💵 Cost

The Brevo Lite plan operates on a sliding scale with four levels:

  • $25.00/month (or $22.50/month when billed annually) for up to 20,000 emails per month
  • $32/month (or $28.80/month when billed annually) for up to 40,000 emails per month
  • $45/month (or $40.50/month when billed annually) for up to 60,000 emails per month
  • $65/month (or $58.50/month when billed annually) for up to 100,000 emails per month

Note that this cost only gives you unlimited daily emails. You’ll need to pay for the Lite+ extension to access more advanced features like A/B testing. This costs an additional $12/month, and the price remains the same regardless of how many emails you send per month. In other words, if you’re interested in the Lite plan, it’s worth investing in the additional features.

It’s also worth noting that this plan limits automated workflows to 2,000 contacts. If you want to send automated emails to a larger number of people, you’ll need to go with the Premium plan.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

The Lite+ plan is ideal for growing businesses that want to use advanced tools to create highly personalized email marketing campaigns. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend going with the base Lite plan unless you absolutely can’t afford the extra $12/month.

Premium

⚙️ Notable features

The Premium plan includes everything from the Lite+ plan, plus:

  • Unlimited marketing automations
  • Facebook ad management
  • Up to five landing pages
  • Multi-user support
  • Access to phone support

💵 Cost

The Premium Brevo plan operates on a sliding scale, so the cost rises with the number of emails you’re sending each month. There are several pricing points:

  • $65/month ($58.50/month when paid annually) for up to 20,000 monthly emails
  • $79/month ($71.10/month when paid annually) for up to 40,000 monthly emails
  • $94/month ($84.60/month when paid annually) for up to 60,000 monthly emails
  • $124/month ($111/month when paid annually) for up to 100,000 monthly emails
  • $169/month ($152.10/month when paid annually) for up to 150,000 monthly emails
  • $229/month ($206.10/month when paid annually) for up to 250,000 monthly emails
  • $289/month ($260.10/month when paid annually) for up to 350,000 monthly emails
  • $379/month ($341.10/month when paid annually) for up to 500,000 monthly emails
  • $499/month ($449.10/month when paid annually) for up to 750,000 monthly emails
  • $599/month ($539.10/month when paid annually) for up to 1,000,000 monthly emails

If you exceed 1,000,000 emails per month you’ll be required to switch to Enterprise pricing.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

The Premium Brevo plan is ideal for growing companies that want to invest in advanced automation for their email marketing and CRM, as well as for companies that have multiple people working on their email marketing campaigns.

Enterprise

⚙️ Notable features

The Enterprise Brevo plan includes everything from the Premium plan, plus:

  • Custom volume of monthly emails
  • Priority sending
  • 20+ landing pages
  • Access for 10+ users
  • SSO (SAML)
  • Customer success manager
  • Priority support
  • Ability to customize your plan with additional features as needed; contact Brevo for more info

💵 Cost

The Enterprise plan is only available through custom pricing. You can learn more about this by contacting Brevo.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

Brevo’s Enterprise plan is ideal for large companies with a full marketing team and the ability to take advantage of all the advanced features.

SMS pricing

Brevo also offers SMS marketing credits. You can buy these in bulk, then use them to create SMS marketing campaigns for your audience. These start at $1.14 for 100 SMS credits and cost roughly $11 per thousand credits. There’s no limit to the number of SMS credits you can purchase at once.

How Brevo pricing ranks against the competition 🥊

One of the most important things to consider before you purchase any new software is how the pricing and features compare to what you’ll get with similar tools. In this case, I’m going to compare Brevo to two highly popular email marketing tools: GetResponse and Mailchimp.

GetResponse

GetResponse

GetResponse is one of the most established email marketing services on the market. The original service launched in 2000, long before most companies were thinking about email marketing. The company has since expanded to offer a wide range of tools, including a website builder and webinar hosting technology.

GetResponse pricing

There are four GetResponce pricing plans:

  • Free. Available for lists with fewer than 500 subscribers. This plan includes the ability to send unlimited newsletters, access to the website builder and a custom domain, and the ability to create one dedicated landing page and unlimited signup forms.
  • Basic. Available on a sliding scale, starting at $12.30/month (billed annually) for up to 1,000 subscribers and capping at $369/month (billed annually) for 50,001-100,000 subscribers. This plan includes everything in the Free plan + autoresponders, unlimited landing pages, advanced website builder features, basic segmentation, and email scheduling.
  • Plus. Available on a sliding scale, starting at $40.18/month (billed annually) for up to 1,000 subscribers and capping at $409.18/month (billed annually) for 50,001-100,000 subscribers. This plan includes everything in the Basic plan + marketing automation, webinars, contact scoring and tagging, advanced segmentation, five marketing funnels, and the ability to have up to three team members.
  • Professional. Available on a sliding scale, starting at $81.18/month (billed annually) and capping at $475.60/month (billed annually) for 50,001-100,000 subscribers. This plan includes everything in the Plus plan + unlimited automations, paid webinars, ecommerce features, web push notifications, unlimited funnels, and the ability to have up to five team members.

💡 Note that GetResponse offers discounts for charities and NGOs. You can see the full plan breakdown on the GetResponse pricing page.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp

Mailchimp started as a fairly ordinary email marketing service and has since expanded to offer a website builder and CRM software.

Mailchimp pricing

Mailchimp offers four email marketing plans:

  • Free. Available for lists with up to 2,000 contacts. You’ll get access to the core email marketing software, Facebook and Instagram ads tools, the website builder, a Mailchimp domain, and the ability to create unlimited forms and landing pages.
  • Essentials. Available on a sliding scale, starting at $11/month for up to 500 contacts and capping at $299/month for 40,001-50,000 contacts. There is a sending limit of 10x the plan’s contact limit per month (so if you’ve set a limit of 500 contacts, you can send up to 5,000 emails). You’ll get access to everything from the free plan + email and landing page templates, custom branding opportunities, the Customer Journey Builder, A/B testing, and 24/7 email and chat support.
  • Standard. Available on a sliding scale starting at $17/month for up to 500 contacts and capping at $605/month for 75,001-100,000 contacts. There’s also a sending limit of 12x the plan’s contact limit per month. You’ll get access to everything from the Essentials plan + all advanced Customer Journey Builder features, send time optimization, behavioral targeting, custom templates, social media scheduling tools, ad retargeting, and dynamic content.
  • Premium. Available on a sliding scale starting at $299/month for 500 contacts and capping at $1,300/month for 150,001-200,000 contacts. There’s also a sending limit of 15x the plan’s contact limit per month. This plan includes everything from the Premium plan + advanced segmentation, multivariate testing, comparative reporting, unlimited seats & role-based access, and access to phone/priority support.

💡 Note that Mailchimp includes unsubscribed contacts toward your contact limit. This means that over time, your contact number will grow even if your contact list doesn’t, artificially inflating your cost. To avoid this, you’ll need to manually delete your unsubscribed contacts on a regular basis.

Brevo vs GetResponse vs Mailchimp

Brevo vs GetResponse vs Mailchimp
Brevo GetResponse Mailchimp
Free plan Unlimited subscribers, up to 300 emails/day Up to 500 subscribers, unlimited emails Up to 2,000 subscribers, 10,000 monthly email
First paid plan Sliding scale starting at $25.00/month for up to 20,000 emails/month; caps at $65/month for 60,001-100,000 emails/month Sliding scale starting at $12.30/month for up to 500 subscribers; caps at $369/month for 50,001-100,000 subscribers Sliding scale starting at $11/month for up to 500 contacts and 5,000 monthly email; caps at $299/month for 40,001-50,000 contacts and up to 500,000 monthly emails
Second paid plan Sliding scale starting at $65/month for up to 20,000 emails; caps at $599/month for 750,001-1,000,000 emails/month Sliding scale starting at $40.18/month for up to 500 subscribers; caps at $409.18/month for 50,001-100,000 subscribers Sliding scale starting at $17/month for up to 500 contacts and 6,000 monthly emails; caps at $605/month for 75,001-100,000 contacts and 1,200,000 monthly emails
Third paid plan Enterprise plan; contact Brevo for more info Sliding scale starting at $81.18/month for up to 500 subscribers; caps at $475.60/month for 50,001-100,000 subscribers Sliding scale starting at $299/month for up to 500 contacts and 7500 monthly emails; caps at $1,300/month for 150,001-200,000 contacts and up to 3,000,000 monthly emails

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll have noticed that Brevo is the most expensive option I’ve discussed today, especially when your list is small. You can technically have a 10,000 person list for free, but the email sending limit means that if you want to email more than 300 of those people at the same time, you’ll need to pay $25.00/month. Compared to the $11/month charged by Mailchimp for a list of up to 500 subscribers, or the $12.30/month charged by GetResponse for up to 1,000 subscribers, that’s quite expensive.

As your list grows, however, Mailchimp prices fall more in line with Brevo’s prices, largely thanks to Mailchimp’s sending limits. At 5,000 subscribers (which means a 50,000 email/month limit), the Essentials plan is $59/month, compared to the $45/month to send 60,000 monthly emails for the Brevo Lite plan ($57/month with Lite+). And with Mailchimp counting unsubscribed contacts towards your limit, you can end up paying overage fees or being forced to move to a higher-tier plan for a list of mostly useless contacts.

GetResponse, on the other hand, doesn’t have any monthly email sending limits. You can send 20 emails to a 20,000 person list in one month and still pay the same rate as you do in a month when you send five emails to that same list. This makes it the most affordable option in the long run.

Final thoughts on Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) pricing: is it worth it?

👉 At first glance, the lack of a subscriber limit makes Brevo pricing plans look generous, especially the free plan. When you dig deeper, however, you realize that the free plan is quite limited and that the paid plans are some of the most expensive on the market. If cost is your main concern, you’re better off choosing alternative platforms like GetResponse or even setting up a structure of your own by integrating solutions like MailPoet with Amazon AWS for sending email straight from your WordPress site.

👉 On the other hand, if you’re more focused on finding an email marketing tool with a lot of great automation, CRM, and sales features, you should give Brevo a chance. I recommend testing the free plan to get a feel for the interface, then switching to the Lite+ plan to take advantage of A/B testing and more advanced analytics features.

What do you think of Brevo pricing and its offering in total – considering the features, etc.? Let us know in the comments section below.
